Many Italian public agencies host recruitment drives every year. However, this new hiring call from the National Institute for Social Security (INPS) stands out.
INPS is offering 1,695 full-time, permanent jobs for mid-level officials. Unlike most government exams, this opportunity accepts candidates with degrees in Humanities and Social Sciences, alongside Law and Economics.

Positions Breakdown: From 1,024 to 1,695 Jobs
INPS originally planned to hire 1,024 officials. In June 2026, the board added 671 extra positions, bringing the final total to 1,695 openings. Candidates must select only one region or central office when applying.
The vacancies are spread across the country:
- Northern Italy: Lombardy offers 190 regional posts plus 196 in Milan’s metropolitan office. Emilia-Romagna has 182, Piedmont 154, Veneto 96, Liguria 49, Friuli Venezia Giulia 36, Trentino-Alto Adige 35, and Valle d’Aosta 6.
- Central Italy: Lazio offers 17 regional posts, 215 in Rome’s metropolitan office, and 220 at the General Directorate. Tuscany has 148, Umbria 12, and Marche 5.
- Southern Italy & Islands: Campania has 5 regional posts plus 90 in Naples’s metropolitan office. Abruzzo has 8, Sardinia 6, while Basilicata, Calabria, Puglia, Sicily, and Molise have 5 posts each.
## Eligibility Criteria to Participate
To apply for this competition, you must fulfill all of the following requirements.
A Master’s Degree in Economics/Statistics (e.g., Business Administration, Actuarial Sciences), Law/Political Science (e.g., Public Administration, International Relations), or Humanities/Social Sciences (e.g., Sociology, Philosophy, Foreign Languages, Literature, Communication). If you haven’t graduated in Italy, you also need an official degree recognition issued by the Italian government by the application deadline if you graduated outside Italy.
It’s due to have Italian citizenship, EU citizenship, or non-EU status as an EU Family Residence Card holder, an EU Long-Term Residence Permit holder, or a recognized refugee/person with subsidiary protection status.
You have to be at least 18 years old and physically fit for office work.
Also, you must have full civil and political rights, a clean criminal record, and no past dismissals or discharges from public employment for disciplinary reasons.
Of course you must have fluent Italian skills, as all exams and daily workplace communications use Italian.
The Selection Process
The hiring process uses two written testing stages. If more than 4,000 candidates apply, INPS will first run a preliminary 60-question multiple-choice test covering logic, English, IT skills, verbal reasoning, and general knowledge.
The main written exam consists of two distinct parts. Part 1 features a technical fill-in-the-blank text test focused on:
- Labour Law;
- Social Security;
- Public Administration.
Part 2 presents practical workplace scenarios designed to test your decision-making and situational problem-solving skills.
How to Apply
You must submit your application online through the official recruitment portal at inpa.gov.it.
To log in, you will need a valid Italian digital ID such as SPID, CIE, or CNS. You also need a personal certified email address to receive official updates and must pay a mandatory €10 application fee. The strict deadline to submit your application is July 27, 2026, at 11:59 PM.
